Wikipedia will soon be able to read us articles

by Tony Hill on March 14, 2016

Wikipedia is a great source of information and the list of articles is becoming larger by the day. Content is also quality enough to be cited even in thesis. Users will soon get another feature which will make Wikipedia even more popular. This feature is speech synthesizer, which means that we will be able to listen to Wikipedia articles.

Speech synthesizer should be available by the end of 2017 and will first support English, Arabic and Swedish. Other languages will also be added later. Although, the main use of this feature is meant for blind and visually impaired, a quarter of Wikipedia users would like to use it. When it becomes available, it will be free to use and will have open source licence.
