Ubuntu going mobile

by Tony Hill on November 3, 2011

Since more and more computer users are deciding to purchase mobile devices, the company Canonical, will soon start developing mobile versions of the Ubuntu operating system.

Ubuntu 12.04 with development name Pangolin Precise, will be fully compatible with saving ARM processors and will appear on the market in 2014, althought unofficial versions of the free mobile operating system are already available for installation on Tablet PC.

If it is to believe the words of founder of Canonical, Mark Shuttleworth, Ubuntu Mobile will be able to install on a rich range of mobile devices and consumer electronics devices. This includes smart phones, tablet PCs, multimedia TVs and even cars. The company Canonical believe that despite the market dominance of mobile operating systems iOS and Android, there is still enough room for a good and free competitor.
